Essence.com’s Beauty All-Access: Nzingha

Published: Monday, September 19, 2011 | Author: | In:Beauty Addict Jacqueline Laurean

A few weeks ago, I had my eyes done up by Professional Makeup Artist, Nzingha.  Nzingha has worked with celebrities such as Paula Patton, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blidge, and host of others we love!  She used some of the best brands to create this look, and experimented with some of the colors we are always afraid to use.  Nzingha had me batting my eyes at everyone for the rest of the day!  Check out the video link below to find out how Nzingha created my fab eye look.

Beautifully Blown Away by NYC’s New Drybar

Looking for a chic new beauty shop, fabulous stylists, luxury service, anddd not to mention, affordability? Sometimes, it can be difficult to find all of these attributes  in one place.  Look no further.  NYC’s new Dry Bar has got you covered!

Upon arrival, I was instantly wow’d by the decorum of the shop.  It had a very chic, slightly eclectic, yet cozy feel to it.  I was instantly greeted, offered refreshments, and introduced to my stylist, Donna. We began with a quick consultation, and I was able to show Donna what look I was going for.  The Dry Bar has a photo book of different blow out looks (this was such a plus!!!)    Then, she began to shampoo, which was very relaxing!  Each seat has a pull out leg rest, and the sink adjusts once you lay your head back.  I almost fell asleep. Well, not really, but you get the point.

From there, Donna began to work her magic on my strands. As she worked, I was offered a magazine to look at, a cool movie was playing, and I noticed there were IPhone charging docks.  How ideal?  It took her roughly about 30-40 minutes in total for my service.  After adding a little bump to my ends with the curling iron, she turned me around toward the mirror, and all I could do was smile.  I was beautifully blown away at how amazing my new do was.  :-)

It doesn’t matter what hair length or texture you have.  The Dry Bar offers one flat fee of $40!  Opening this coming Friday, September 16th, I am recommending that you book an appointment online now!

Fashion’s Night Out Recap

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending Vogue’s Third Annual Fashion’s Night Out in New York City.  Just in case you haven’t heard already, Fashion’s Night Out is a huge fashion extravaganza in the city when most stores throw events, complimentary services are provided, and designers come out to meet and greet.  FNO usually takes place at the peak of New York Fashion Week, and in my opinion, it’s like a huge Halloween celebration for adults to have fun and celebrate all things fashion related.

I started my night off downtown in Soho (which was a madhouse).  I had the chance to visit the Nicole Miller store, and get lost in the madness of fans standing outside of the Kardashian’s Dash New York Store.  Later in the night, I headed eastside where things were a little calmer.  The Mulberry store had free face painting for the night, and it was like a huge party in the Henri Bendel store!

All around the city, there were A list appearances from celebs like Nikki Minaj, Drake, Justin Beiber, Angela Simmons, and Rachel Zoe.  There were also a few stores that did it really big for the night, and attracted the masses.  Some of the biggest celebrations were at Sephora, John Frieda’s Salon, Dolce & Gabanna, Dash, Sak’s Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Chanel, and Teen Vogue’s block party featuring complimentary Essie mani’s.  There was even a Marc by Marc Jacobs Accessories truck!

If you didn’t get a chance to visit this year, make sure to make plans for next year.  Check out some of the images captured in the link posted below.  2 Snaps for Fashion’s Night Out!!!

Stila Loves Roxy: Beach Must-Have!

Published: Monday, July 11, 2011 | Author: | In:Beauty Addict

This month, Stila  has teamed up with the surfer inspired label, Roxy, to create a fabulous makeup line.  With bronzey goddesses in mind, like myself, this line is bringing you the perfect sun kissed look without the sun.  The Stila Loves Roxy collection includes 7 of Stila’s most loved products.  During my quick touch-up a couple of weeks ago, the products that I loved the most were the Waterproof Sparkly Eye Liner in Sequins ($22), the Lip Glaze in Apricot ($22), and the bronzer included in one of the Stila and Roxy Travel Palettes ($14 for 1 palette).

This line is a great investment for the beach babes who want the perfect long-wearing makeup that takes you from hot summer days to cool summer nights.

The Stila Loves Roxy collection is available at roxy.com

I give it 2 SNAPS!
