Common Issue: Spilt ends. Hate them! Now, let’s be clear, you SHOULD aim at getting your ends clipped every 6-8 weeks. Whatever your hair type or condition (natural, curly, straight, blonde, or blue), trimming at least a half-inch routinely is really one of the key components to achieving healthy hair. Aside from getting rid of split ends, a quick clean up can reduce breakage, keep your hair even, promote growth, and prevent split ends from coming back. I wouldn’t recommend clipping your own hair, but it is best to go to a professional. Depending on the condition of your hair, there should never really be a time when you need to get more than 2 inches(at the most) cut off. Some stylists can be a little “scissor happy,” and will trim more off than needed.

It’s highly recommended that you clip your ends, and I’m sure, most of you have heard this a thousand times. It’s best if you stick to routinely clipping your ends, buttttt apparently, this suggestion is not always attainable. You may not have the funds, time, or the patience to see a professional. If this is the case, and you really need a quick fix in the meantime, give Pantene’s Split End Repair Keratin Protection Creme {$7, drugstores} a try. It can be used on wet or dry hair, binds existing split ends, and helps to prevent any further breakage. The keratin formula also protects your strands from heat damage. My ends were looking a little on the limp side. I used 1 pump on my ends, rubbed it in, and sealed in the product by going over my ends with a flat-iron once. I was very satisfied with the ending result. I wouldn’t say it should be a permanent fix for your split end drama, but it is an amazing temporary fix. If you’re short on time, I’d say give it a try!
