Snappy Treats: Teriyaki Salmon & Greens

Published: Wednesday, April 3, 2013 | Author: | In:Snappy Treats!

So sorry for the ghost town site for the last couple of weeks, but things have been a tad hectic on my end.  I still love you all!  Speaking of super busy days, I wanted to share a quick and easy  dinner recipe I used a few weeks ago. Teriyaki Salmon & Greens……and yummy cheddar mashed potatoes (but don’t tell anyone about the mashed who’s counting calories!)

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

1 Pound of Salmon (or however many you would like to serve), Fresh or frozen string beans, Betty Crocker Mashed potatoes, Kikkoman Teriyaki and Marinade Sauce, Pepper, Parsley, Milk, Old Bay Seasoning, Garlic Powder, Fresh lemon or lemon juice, Butter, 1 small sized pot, 1 Medium sized pot, 1 nonstick medium sized baking pan

salmon

THE NIGHT BEFORE:

Season each salmon piece with a pinch of garlic, pepper, parsley, and old bay seasoning. This will allow the fish to marinade overnight, and allow the flavor to penetrate so it’s extra yummy when you’re all done! ;-) Continue reading

WELLNESS TEAS: Kusmi? Yes, please!

Published: Friday, February 22, 2013 | Author: | In:2 Snaps..Just Cuz Snappy Treats!

Kusmi Tea 2Lately, the weather has been quite brutal in NYC and surrounding cities.  Not to mention, commuting from Jersey to the city can be a frost bitten nightmare in itself.  Before stepping out the other morning, I wanted to bring along a hot mug of coffee to help warm me up and give me a little morning kick.  Looking through my cabinets, I’d come to find out there wasn’t anymore coffee left.  Dangn’t! Before getting my panties into a bunch, I remembered there was an assortment of Kusmi Tea’s hanging around that I had yet to try.  I’m so used to a traditional tea bag that the thought of taking the time to mess around with loose tea leaves seemed so foreign to me.  The good thing was that the set of Kusmi Tea’s I had been given also came with a mesh tea infuser spoon which allows you to easily scoop the tea out, cage off however much you would like, and let it simmer in your cup for as long as you would like–without making a huge mess!  I tried the “Boost” flavor, and after about 2-3 sips I was pretty much sold. Every morning this week, I’ve tried a new flavor that has put a satisfying smile on my face.

The wellness teas come in 5 flavors including Boost, Be Cool, Detox, Sweet Love and Euphoria.  Each one offers something a little different and beneficial to your immune system.  It’s great to have an assortment of the teas, but if you’re looking to fulfill one specific need, you can try the best one you see fit.  If you’re into green tea and dieting, maybe try “Detox.”  It’s a soothing blend of Chinese green tea, lemon, and lemongrass to help you open up and detoxify any unwanted leftovers in your system.

Give Kusmi a try. Especially if you’re a tea lover, you will be impressed! Promise.

FREEBIE FRIDAY: Get Glad with the Diva!

Sultra Diva Pressing Iron

Way back when, I found my self in a fuzzy situation.  Tried to hang out, meet new people, and even consult with others about my issues.  After trying out a few others, the Diva came into my life, and totally straightened me out!  Before meeting the Diva, I never really believed in love at first site, but this was something I had never really experienced before.  We became instant besties, and things have never been the same!  Sultra’s new Diva Pressing Iron had me SOLD!!!

Why?  First off, the sleek design immediately grabbed my attention.  I’ve learned not to judge a book by its cover, so I tested the iron out before jumping to conclusions.  The iron has 2 temperature settings, one for relaxed, and the other for natural hair textures.  With a lot of other irons, it’s sometimes hard to tell how much heat is too much, and you end up damaging your hair.  The Diva Pressing Iron helps you avoid this issue.  Plus, each iron comes with a complimentary pressing creme to nourish and protect your strands from heat damage.  I used about a dime sized amount through out my hair before pressing.  Try not to use too much!  The creme is lightweight, but you don’t want to weigh your hair down with too much product.  Especially, if you like it bouncy, and gone with the wind! ;-)   Just let the diva work most of the majic!  With that said, Sultra has an exclusive ThermaGuide Plate System that grips the hair and pulls it taut as you curl, wave, or straighten.  After heating up in less than a few short minutes, I found it extremely easy to handle the iron, and glide it through my blown out fro.  About 30 minutes of styling went pass, and before you know it, I was finished.  Hair was laid…

GIVEAWAY!!!

Because I’m so happy about my new found relationship, I thought I’d share the love!  Subscribe to 2 Snaps and a Twist today, and send your mailing address to 2snapsandatwist@gmail.com with SULTRA in the subject line for a chance to win the Sultra Diva Pressing Iron ($210 value). Good Luck!!

Monday Madness: GET ACTIVATED!

Published: Monday, October 22, 2012 | Author: | In:Snappy Treats!

Last week, I had one of those “so busy, forgot about my health,” days at work. I know, “wait, huh, how?” Well, my body began to react the same way as I hadn’t really took a minute for lunch or to even grab a snack. Feeling a little light headed, and a bit woozey (but still glued to my seat), I grabbed the first water bottle hanging out on my desk. By this time, I was probably dehydrated, and that water looked more like a winning lottery ticket. The cap was a little weird, but I just began to twist, and became easily annoyed when I noticed the top wouldn’t screw off. :-/

Reading is fundamental.

Had I read the ACTIVATE bottle first, I would have realized, that the very top of the bottle was not the actual cap. When I twisted the top, I released stored vitamins into the beverage. After figuring this out, I shook it up a little, and then twisted off the right cap. After my first gulp, I felt super refreshed! Wanting to dig deeper, I Continue reading

Get Your Munch On with Popcorn, Indiana!

Published: Thursday, January 12, 2012 | Author: | In:Snappy Treats!

After eating a pretty heavy southern breakfast (scrambled eggs, catfish, and bacon to be exact), I knew that I had to keep the calories on the lower side for lunch.  As the late afternoon rolled around, I received a few bags of Popcorn, Indiana’s Chip’ins and Original Kettlecorn popcorn.  Initially, I told myself a snack probably wouldn’t be the best thing for me now.  Unfortunately, as my hunger grew, my curiosity did too!  After ripping the white cheddar chip’ins bag open like a crazy lady, the first bite was heavenly.  With such delicious taste, it was even more of a delight to learn the these chips are all natural, whole grain, ZERO TRANS FATs, gluten-free, and contain no cholesterol, artificial flavors, or preservatives!  So you mean to tell me, I can eat a few more, and not feel too guilty? Sweet.

Popcorn, Indiana treats  have most recently been noted in People, Women’s Health, and Shape Magazines.  Chip’ins, “the hybrid snack of 2011,” are the first chip-shaped popcorn, and are available at Wal-Mart, Costco, and Walgreen retailers for about $4 (7.25 oz).  They are a healthy alternative to fried chips, and pair nicely with chicken noodle soup.

Grab a bag today, and get your munch on! :-)

Natural Hair: Become a Twisted Sista!

Published: Thursday, November 17, 2011 | Author: | In:Beauty Addict Snappy Treats!

It’s been a little while since I have done a hair post, and before I began I need to note “Solange is working it  in this photo!”  Everything from her hair to the fab fit.  However, Solange’s beautifully coiled locks intrigue me the most!  I have natural (non-permed) hair myself, but after years of flat ironing I have lost some of my original curl pattern.  My roots tend to curl up, but my ends….not so much.  Has this happened to you?  If so, I have come across a product line, Twisted Sista,  for women longing to revive a few ringlets.

Urban Therapy’s Twisted Sista has  6 different products which include the De-frizz Shampoo, Defrizz Conditioner, Curl Activator, 30 Second Curl Spray, Blow Drying Creme, and Different Strokes Serum which all can assist you in achieving a look similar to Solange’s.

My Cheat Sheet for Kinky Curls : (for pressed/flat ironed hair that needs extra help)

1. Shampoo with the De-Frizz Shampoo to hydrate your strands, and provide nutrients such as coconut oil and fruit sugar.  It’s important to cleanse all previous dandruff and build up.

2. Condition with the De-Frizz Conditioner.  Without conditioner your curls may fall a little limp, and not last as long as you had wished.  This conditioner strengthens, and has UV filters that protect your hair from sun damage.  This step is also beneficial for moisturizing, detangling, and increasing body.

3. After rinsing the conditioner out, begin to section your hair with a wide tooth comb.  After you part each small section began to create 2 stranded twists.  Continue this step until your whole head has 2 stranded twists. (Create larger sections, for larger curls/Smaller sections, for tighter curls)

4. Leave your 2 stranded twists in for a few hours, and allow your hair to set.

5.  After a few hours, untwist each braid. Finger comb through to your liking, and maybe follow up with a little 30 Second Curl Spray

Wallah! You have curls girl!

All Twisted Sista products can be found at Walgreens for no more than about $5!

GIVEAWAY: I know we can all be a little skeptical about trying new hair products.  For this reason, I want to give you all a chance to try a few products from Twisted Sista’s product line for FREE.  All you have to do is subscribe to 2 Snaps and a Twist today or send an email to 2snapsandatwist@gmail.com with the subject line “Twisted Sista Giveaway,” and your full mailing address. Good luck!
